Taking Back America!
There are a lot of things President Bush's detractors had to say about our 43rd President, and I will admit, they had quite a few valid points. The man's character, resolve, integrity however were light years beyond the current inhabitant of our nation's highest office. One need look no further than the two, "leak," scandals which occurred during each administration, in terms of how they were handled, and in terms of what precipitated them.
During the first term of President Bush's 8 years as our chief executive, he asked the CIA to send someone out into the world to try to ascertain what mischief Saddam Hussein had gotten himself up to. A mid level former operative who was now spending her days in the bureaucratic tedium of analysis got the bright idea to send her career diplomat husband, who was also coincidentally an apparatchik of the opposition party to poke around. Never mind the fact that this career party flunky had zero experience or expertise in the world of gathering information for use by our national security services, she wanted him out of the house. Being a political apparatchik is not quite so sexy when your side is currently out of power.
After his excursion of sightseeing in Nigeria came to its conclusion, he wrote up his report, and handed it off to the team of analytic bureaucrats. They then forwarded off their conclusions to the people for whom they worked, the Bush Administration. Just in time for the Presidential election some 2 years later, our shut in apparatchik and his good lady wife coauthored an op ed in the New York Times. As it turns out, the entire exercise from their perspective was to use the business of the Administration which was given to them in good faith, as a means to demonize the Bush White House. In plain English, Valerie Plame outed herself in that op ed as a former operative of the CIA. I am by no means an expert on what makes a good spy, but I would be willing to bet that people who are expected to keep their work a secret don't usually go to the news paper known as the paper of record in order to discuss publicly the meaning of their life's work. In fact, if there were a college course entitled espionage 101, I bet avoiding any and all conversations with reporters would have to be covered on about the first or second day.
After that, shockingly, the name of the former operative and her husband became common knowledge. Immediate cries of the Bush White House leaked information and outed these brave individuals who were only patriotically blowing a whistle to highlight the evil of the Bush Administration were sounded. A full investigation was demanded, and the opposition members of the appropriate House Oversight committee were swift in finding a completely partisan special council to prosecute the case. The media then treated us to 8 solid weeks of stories about how the special prosecutor was the single most honest human on Earth since George Washington who admitted to chopping down a cherry tree while just a lad.
Bush told every member of his administration to cooperate fully with whatever the investigators asked, or to leave their jobs. He ordered every member of his administration to take a polygraph as a condition for continued employment, and shazam, within the first 48 hours of the investigation, the name of the person who leaked became known. Richard Armitage, a Clinton appointee kept on by the Bush team for the purposes of continuity, as it happens, he is somewhat of a gossip.
Now, many of you would probably think that when the person who leaked the damning information became known, the investigation into who committed this non felony would cease. You should not be so fast with your non partisan conclusions my gentle snow flakes. What fun is there in an investigation which only lasts a couple of days for a partisan hack being presented as the most honest man since Abe Lincoln walked up hill both ways to return the wrong change sleepily handed to him by a shop keep who obviously had trouble counting to 1. After he knew who the guilty party was, he pressed on, and prosecuted Scooter Libby for a process crime supposedly committed during the part of the investigation that took place a full two months after the investigation should have ended. All this, while it was obvious that no felony had taken place in the first place, since the Wilson's outed themselves.
Then we have events more recent to look at. National Security secrets, which by the way got several members of Seal Team Six killed, were leaked to the press specifically for the purpose of helping Barack Obama's reelection bid. Details of the raid carried out by the team were leaked to those tight lipped movie producers in Hollywood so that they could make their movie extolling the virtues of Barack Obama seem that much more realistic. Paid agents of our intelligence gathering services are being actually hunted down and executed at an alarming rate as a direct result of the Obama White House's handling of its daily activity. The gaffes of the Bush White House cost us exactly nothing, and led to the premature death of no one. The gaffes of the Obama White House have led to the premature deaths of a few unlucky people so far, and the further alienation of our only true ally in the Middle East, Israel.
The toll in terms of what our friends would ever be willing to do for us, ever again is immeasurable. What exactly has the response of the Obama White House been so far? So far, a White House appointee, Eric Holder, has appointed two Obama donors to investigate the latest round of leaks. Good luck with that investigation. Any one holding their breath waiting for any type of prosecution for something that actually is a felony might wish to start dialing 911 now. To add insult to injury, check out David Plouffe's reaction to being asked some very mild questions into the entire affair. He sticks his hand right into Chris Wallace's face and basically tells him to, "talk to the hand cause the ears ain't listening." How dare such a small and unimportant person as an average American Citizen ask an Obama Administration Official about how the people's business is being conducted? The nerve of some people!
As a part of pointing out the hypocrisy of the left and the main stream media in this country, enjoy a video of Juan Williams actually making the statement that the Valerie Plame incident was more egregious. Plame's outing was self inflicted and resulted in zero deaths. Compare that to the latest leaks which has originated entirely from within this Administration, was done specifically to help our President get reelected, and has seen a few unlucky citizens of the world killed so far, including members of our armed forces.
