Taking Back America!
Many people in the Republican Party are literally hysterical with glee and happiness this morning after Governor Romney's big win in the debate last night.
While I was also pleasantly surprised by the former Governors performance I caution people on our side from getting too excited.
1) I firmly believe that the Obama Teams plan was to start slowly in the first debate and then try to 'ramp it up' in debates two and three. It serves them well to start out slow and then have the media rave about how Obama 'rebounded' in debate two and then 'decisively' won the last debate.
Obama 'set this up' the last couple days in his speeches talking about how great a debater Mitt Romney is. Remember, this is a sneaky, slimy bunch we are up against and they are much more conniving than many realize.
2) Everyone knows Biden probably won't be able to hold his own against Ryan in the VP debate next Thursday night. The bad part with that is IF Biden does just 'ok' it will be spun as a win for Biden by the media. This would be the starting point for the 'amazing' Obama turn around in the debate series.
3) Everyone (including Rush Limbaugh) is telling us today that the liberals are so mad at Obama and his lackluster debate performance they can't help themselves and are openly criticizing the President. It just seems hard to imagine they are really mad enough at Obama to make comments like these;
CANDY CROWLEY: The president seemed listless. He seemed angry at times, seemed like he didn't want to be there.
KIRSTEN POWERS: He looked like he didn't want to be there.
DONNA BRAZILE: He seemed a little bit detached at times. He didn't want to be there.
DOUG BRINKLEY: He seemed to kind of want to get this over with.
JOHYN HEILEMANN: It seemed to me that he was enduring the debate rather than engaging the debate.
JAMES CARVILLE: President Obama didn't want to be there.
Bill Maher Tweeted during the debate...
i can't believe i'm saying this, but Obama looks like he DOES need a teleprompter
Barry, stop nodding at Mitt when he's lecturing you, it looks like he's right and you're chastened!
Maher also send a tweet out before the debate stating he thought Romney would hit it out of the park. Is this just part of the plan?
The bottom line is that Romney still has a long way to go if he thinks he is going to win this election. Yes, this is a good start to the home stretch run but the Democrats still have a lot up their sleeves and Romney, his team and all of us better not let our guards down.
Yahoo is running a story today about how Romney's good performance has put Europe 'on edge' because now they 'fear' Romney could win and all their eggs are in the Obama basket. Expect more like this from the media in the days to come.
Congrats to Mitt for a nice performance but that is just one. He needs to continue to improve because Obama surely will.
