Obama's true record on deporting illegals

It’s A Topsy-Turvy Campaign: The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is boasting that the Obama administration has deported a “record number” of illegals for the third straight year. Not to worry, President Barack Hussein Obama is telling Latino leaders sotto voce – it’s all just hype (“[W]ith the stronger border enforcement, we've been apprehending folks at the borders and sending them back. That is counted as a deportation, even though they may have only been held for a day or 48 hours, sent back – that's counted as a deportation.”). Behind the hype (related article, second item on the page), apprehensions and deportations of illegals are declining, according to the statistics from the Office of Immigration statists, Center for Immigration Studies reports:

In 2010, ICE located fewer than half the number of deportable aliens in 2010 than they did in 2006 (517,000, down from 1.2 million).

Arrest numbers also have been dropping for quite some time. In 2006, the combined efforts of the Investigations and the Detention and Removal divisions resulted in 117,000 alien arrests, which dropped to 68,000 in 2008 and down to 54,000 in 2010.

This is "progress" only if you are not in favor of immigration law enforcement. Not only has ICE shifted its focus nearly exclusively to removing illegal aliens who commit other crimes, it has reduced the overall level of enforcement within the country, where the 11 million illegal aliens are living and working and affecting the well-being of American communities.

Thank you Veronica! I didn't believe for a second that we are exporting more aliens than ever. I just couldn't prove it. Napolitano doesn't have a clue or she does and she thinks we are too stupid to recognize bull when we hear it.

I don't think they care what we find out. All they care about is having the majority believe their reports. Our government lies to the American people even when they don't have to. I just don't believe anything they have to say anymore & I can't see where there has been any success in stopping the illegal aliens from over-running many states. As a matter of fact, what I have seen, is the federal govs interference in the laws the states pass to control what the feds can't.

You are right. Their bean counters just figure that by the economies of scale it, it only matters how many people actually believe their garbage.

None of this is surprising but it is still sad. I have also heard that they don't calculate unemployment like they used to back in the 1970's. So every number we see now from the Fed's is suspect. Who does not think that the economy (based on the numbers from the government) will be showing major improvement by next summer...just in time for the election!

I have never heard or believed a single thing Obama and this thuggery administration has said since day one, as reported by the liberal news media. I have tried very hard to mute all words, phrases, comments, suggestions, speeches, and utterances, that Obama, his wife, and his thugs have spoken, even before he was elected. I have never trusted any of them and my personal opinion is that he is a con man whos every word is a lie and he is worse than Madoff ever thought of being. I will be so glad when he is voted out of office and I can get some sound back on my TV. I love my remote.
