Former Marine Sgt. Austin Anderson Saves Plane Crash Victim Then Later Dies

Not too often you hear about real life heroes but this is one. Marines are truly a special class of people. Once a Marine, always a Marine.

From The Examiner: Bloodied and burned, a hero 'till the end

While en route to a Christian youth rally, an eight-seater Cessna 401 crashed yesterday into a Kansas field that ultimately killed four men with ties to Oklahoma's Oral Roberts University.

As reported by London's Daily Mail, Hannah Luce was pulled from the burning wreckage by former U.S. Marine Austin Anderson.

Although seriously injured himself, Anderson, a 27-year-old native of Ringwood, Oklahoma, disregarded his own personal safety to rescue Luce, who was reportedly burned over 28% of her body.

Both Anderson and Luce were able to make their way to a nearby rural highway to seek help. The duo was eventually airlifted to local hospitals.

Reportedly burned over 90% of his body, Anderson later died at Via Christi Hospital in Wichita. The former Sergeant of Marines had served two previous tours of duty in Iraq.

Marines are heroes. Everyone of them for just being willing to do the job they do.

Once again, one of our soldiers proves what being an American is all about, even OUTSIDE of combat! Character DOES matter. We're praying for Austin's family who must be extremely heartbroken, but proud.
