The most important election since the election of George Washington is only a few weeks away. On November 6, 2012 Americans will go to the booth and select their choice for leader of the greatest country ever conceived by mankind.

There are a lot of things Americans are concerned with like food, clothes, their cars, the cost of each along with so much more. One in six may be wondering where the money to buy the gas is coming from or food on the table. Even with over 47 million Americans receiving Food Stamps (Snap) there are many who don't receive Snap for various reasons, that still have to provide food for their families. The “lucky ones” who have found work are usually receiving far less for more work and they are thinking about how to compensate for the difference. Yes Americans have a lot to be concerned about and a lot to think about, so for most daily life is what is on their minds. The election has been left behind with many expressing the sentiment “Why bother I have important things to worry about.”

Little do they realize this election isn't just about selecting an individual or which direction we should pursue, top down bottom up, left or right, conservative or liberal. While all that is important and some will be decided on November 6 the most important issue will not be. America will elect either a liberal or a conservative, a top down or bottom up philosophy, left or right direction.

What America needs to wake up and realize is this election will be over by November 7^th but that is just that and nothing more. We will select a President and Vise President but that is when Americans need to really get involved.

For decades the Governments has seized more and more control of our daily lives and our rights granted by the Constitution's first Amendment. Just passed by Prairie Village, Kansas a new city ordinance that would require permits in order for any individual to put on a “special event” that lasts five days or more. In addition to the time frame, the ordinance impacts any initiative that “is likely to or does in fact generate crowds … sufficient in size to obstruct, delay or interfere with the safe and orderly movement of … traffic.” While on the surface this would sound fairly harmless and reasonable, but far from it. The right to peacefully assemble has long been the law of the land, by manipulating words that right is being denied the citizens of Prairie Village, Kansas. Every year prior to Christmas Mike Babick erects a unique holiday lights display. The display attracts a massive audience of visitors who wish nothing more then to enjoy the display. But this year, the new city ordinance restricts his ability to put on the massive display. This new ordinance has stolen the right of every one of the visitors who are assembling for peaceful purpose, “to view the display with their family and,or friends.

The question is not how, or why they managed to steal this basic right but rather where is the outrage from the public or their elected officials from the state or even members of Congress. Nobody is standing up to defend Mike's right to display his Christmas light show or the right of Americans to visit Mike's display for their happiness at a time when every American could and needs a little more happiness in their lives. His elected officials are to busy campaigning for another term or their first term to even consider taking time (busy schedule) to address someone's rights being violated.

This is one case but alas it is not unique. Take little Aubree of Evans Ga. Her Grandmother built her a playhouse and apparently there is no problem with the playhouse except Aubree wanted it pink.  So in steps the  Mills Haven Home Owners Association board and files suit against  Becky Rogers-Peck the grandmother. To force her to paint the playhouse a different color. The playhouse is okay but they have a problem with it being pink. After it got national attention a lawyer has agreed to help Pro-Bono, so it might end up being decided in court. There is of course the case of the City of New York telling it's citizens what size drink they can consume. That “Law” will surely be challenged in the courts, But it is another atrocity of rights being controlled by a Government entity. There are probably millions of such actions happening daily across the great land of ours. More and more Government intervention into our daily lives by stealing our oh so cherished rights. They do it for personal gain or simply because they don't like you exercising one of your rights.

That is what this election must be about. Not who we elect, that will happen November 6^th  After that we must as Americans become united once again, and demand our rights be restored and the involvement in our daily lives, and the stealing our rights be forever prohibited by any act of  legislation by any authority except the people themselves by majority vote in general election.
